To Nap or NOT to Nap

Today Addison went down for a nap, or so I thought. I knew it was going to be a tough one when I kept seeing her puppet bunny peeking around the corner and down into the family room at Trevor and me as we played checkers...

After it had been a while since our last bunny sighting, I thought I'd go check on her to see if she finally gave in and fell asleep. Well, much to my surprise, or not so much, I found Addison very much awake, and dressed in some extra clothing than what I laid her down in...
And yes, I totally ran and got the camera to capture this moment.... and made her stand up so you all could see her outfit she put together.

In addition to her shorts and t-shirt, she added:
Trevor's pajama pants
A dress of hers I had laying out to be hung up
And McKenzie's headband...
oh, and an armful of books.
This little fashionista needs a little guidance!
So, needless to say, she never went down for a nap.

Tyler, however, made up for that, and decided to crash on dad for a SECOND afternoon nap once Daddy came home.
Poor buddy has had a rough day. He's gone through more diapers and wipes today than I normally use for both him and Addison combined. And, his poor little booty is as red as a fire engine. I haven't given him anything different to eat, or any new meds, or sprouting any new teeth that I can see, so I'm not quite sure what's going on with him...

but he did enjoy airing out his booty on the deck for about an hour before Daddy got home!!!

Flower Update

Happy Mother's Day!!!
Here are some pictures of the flowers in the front of the house today. It's a chilly breezy 60 degrees today! I nearly froze my tootsies off watering the flowers and the vegetable garden!
I love how full these are!
The yellow roses are E-Normous!
And there will be several more of these lovelies!
Along with some red roses starting to bud along side of these. So pretty!!!

Busy Week

We had a crazy busy week here...

Between appointments, and practices, and band concerts... I don't know how I am still up to post this.

Dr. Addison was up early one morning with a patient... who was so cooperative. If only Addison would be like that! (Pray for us Wednesday as we go to our ENT appointment. I hope that she will be a good girl!)We had some tree people in our yard tonight. The landlords had them come take down a couple dead trees in the yard. They were getting bad and were a bit of a danger. The kids and I sat up on the deck and watched them climb up the trees, and drop down sections of the trees on their way back down.
All I know is that there are probably a few grey squirrels wondering where their house is tonight... poor things. Homeless squirrels.

Photographs by Trevor

Trevor asked me ever so sweetly if he could take the camera around the house and take pictures. How could I say no?

So, here are a few of his best. I'll spare you the majority of them, which were random items from all over the house, and every section of every shelf of my big pantry. (He wanted to show Grandma Bob how much food we had.)

Starting off, here is our front door. This is what Trevor does to my curtain every morning. He doesn't care that I put them back down every day... he always ties them back up the next day. He likes them like that!
This is Tyler waking up from his nap, and mommy wishing she could take one.
Close up.
This one almost made Trevor pee his pants. We looked at this one and just giggled til our tummies hurt!

Dr. Addison

This afternoon we took Addison BACK to the doctor to get a closer look at her tonsils. After discussing with the doctor (during Tyler's checkup) she decided she wanted her to come back again to take a good look at her throat, even if it meant torturing her to do so.

So, we got her pink doctor kit (thank you Larry and Judy) and headed out. She was so excited to go to the doctor since she had her doctor 'tools' with her to show the doctor. We even practiced them, and opened our mouth really wide....
We walked into the office swinging our doctor kit proudly... sat in the chair and smiled... told Mommy "I'm going to be a good girl!" The nurse called her name: Addison.

She went from all smiles to fear stricken child in .2 seconds. We walked down the hall around the corner until the scale was in view.

"I no wanna do dat, Mommy... I no wanna do dat."

So I told the nurse (which is another story) that we were just there 2 weeks ago, we were just here to look at her tonsils, and that weighing her would be tramatic and kill our chances of having a successful assessment with the doctor. So she moved on. (thank you!)

Addison hesitantly let her take her temperature. Then we were off to our designated room to wait. Addison made sure to tell me over and over: "I no wanna sit up there." Pointing to the exam table... Meaning, she would remain on my lap for the duration of our visit.

The doctor came in, we discussed our concerns, and then she played along with the doctor kit, which Addison soon became quite possessive over. Grabbing her 'tools' out of the doctors hands. (Not a proud moment... NO GRABBING!)

Listening to breath sounds, she kicked the doc's legs while I pinned her hands down and shushed her... (sorry!) Time to open the mouth. I started talking about how we practiced and how she got to look in daddy's mouth, and mommy and trevor's mouths to see if she could see the cupcakes we had eaten the other night. So the doctor went with it, and talked her down, and convinced her to look in her mouth to see if SHE could see any cupcakes!!! SUCCESS!

Results: The doctor was surprised that her tonsils weren't as big as she had anticipated, due to her extreme mouth breathing. So, now she thinks it's her nasal passage. Or a combo of that, slightly enlarged tonsils and ears. Great, possibly a triple whammy!

Good news: Thank goodness I walked away with an ENT referral. I am anxious to see what the specialist thinks. As well as what may be in store for us in the near future. *sigh*

Lazy Sunday

It's a beautiful sunny morning. The kids are all getting along. Trevor and Addison bribed Tyler with a toy all the way in to the front room. He's really getting fast with the commando crawling. Still not up on all fours yet. But he's sure giving his big toe quite a workout!
Addison in her latest position. Usually she doesn't look so happy with her hands on her hips, she has quite the attitude. (It's pretty funny... most of the time)
Once I got the camera out, they all got real "camera shy"..... yeah right.

Only 9 months old, and this little guy knows how to work the camera. These show you a glimpse of his personality. He's a funny one!

Cool & Calm

My Happy Boy

Cheesin' it

Silly boyBack to Cool and Calm, with a side of crazy.
It's so nice when they all get along... (which isn't always). Makes my life so much easier.

Cupcakes...

...breakfast of Champions.
*They can't be any worse than toaster strudels can they? And just for the record, she had the first bite in before I even knew she snuck one!

Note to self: Find higher ground for cupcakes.
