Spaghetti Dinner

We had spaghetti for supper tonight and Nick had his phone out and taking pics of Tyler eating his food and making a monster mess!
And of course Addison can't ever be left out of any photo op. So that she can be silly...
And from there it just went around the table to Trevor..
and McKenzie, the typical teen who is "SOOOO NOT DOING THAT"
hmmm, my picture must have been lost... oh well, isn't that too bad...
on to Nick...Then Nick introduced the "Lady and The Tramp" version

Dentist

McKenzie and Trevor had dentist appointments after school yesterday. I had to drag the little ones along for the ride.

Addison attempted to sneak back to the back with them, but I kept her in the waiting room with me and Tyler. I kept her entertained by letting her listen to McKenzie's iPod.

Which in turn kept the staff entertained as she sang to "I Gotta Feelin'" by Black Eyed Peas over and over again.

"Tonights gonna be a GOOD NIGHT.... tonight's gonna be a GOOD GOOD Niiiiiiiiiight"
and... "Ooooo Hoooo"
She had no idea how loud she was singing!

Tyler was totally engaged in the Highlights magazine the entire time. (even if it WAS upside down).

The best part of the day.... No cavities!

Together Again

My friend Alaina and her son Andrew, along with her parents, were on a 2 week road trip along the East Coast... going wherever the road would take them, when they made a special stop at the Turner house!!!! Ironically enough, it had been 1 year TO THE DAY since we had seen them last, the day we left Hawaii!

And for this special occasion, our friend Julie, who lives less than 2 hours away, came over to see Alaina as well!

It was so great to see Alaina and her family after all this time! I really miss hanging out with my "Ugly Angel Hawaii" friends!

Nick grilled some Iowa chops and we invited the Minaldi's over too, another former Ugly Angel family who is currently assigned to HMX-1!

Alaina-Kim-Julie-Christie(I cannot even begin to tell you how many pictures we had to take to get one where we all looked decent. Julie, Nick asked me if I was going to post 'that one' picture... your welcome for not doing so, and Alaina, I have a couple good ones of you too!)

The Minaldi's had a beautiful baby girl 3 months ago, so we got to play with her as well! She is so gorgeous, and looks just like her daddy! Tyler was loving on her all evening!
After our delicious dinner, we fired up our brand new ice cream machine for some good ol' homemade ice cream. We had each of the kids hand crank it for a while until they got tired, and we put the electric motor on it!

The ice cream was awesome! It was a huge hit! But, I think I could have added a little more lemon flavoring to it, Dad! MMmmmmm.

Alaina and Andrew stayed with us last night, we enjoyed a lovely breakfast by Nick, and they were off, on their last day of driving back to Alabama. You can read all about their awesome travels on her blog here.

Alaina's husband Drew is currently deployed to Afghanistan, so please keep him and the rest of our Ugly Angel family in your prayers until their return in March.

Shenandoah Valley

Nick came home this morning after doing over a month of training up in D.C. which started on Sept 6th. He was gone for a majority of the time, only coming home for a day or two between his SIX 3 day long tours. Then, once his training was complete, he was scheduled to do his first official 3 day duty tour after only being home for less than 24 hours!!!! The kids (and I) missed him a LOT, so he and I decided to take the kids over to the Shenandoah Valley to see the sights and check out a resort up there.
The leaves are starting to change around here and I can't wait to see how beautiful it will be in a couple weeks! Here we are at Massanutten Resort, at a lookout over the Valley. GORGEOUS! It was a beautiful day out as well, the weatherman said it will probably be the LAST 'good' weekend we have left. Temperatures were in the high 6o's and the breeze was perfect.
Just a couple blocks from home on our near 2 hour drive back home, we saw 7 deer in these people's yard! We turned around to go see them again, pulled into the driveway, and the deer just looked up at us for a second and then carried on. They jumped around and chased each other. It was so much fun to watch them!
It was a long day of driving but the kids did pretty good considering!

Lemons!

We took the kids out to eat last night. Nick was only going to be home one night, so we thought we'd make the most of it!

We ate at a small little Italian joint in town called Vinny's. I seemed to have misplaced the lemons from my ice tea... guess where they ended up?

Getting Dressed

With Nick away, this morning was a crazy morning of getting ready for Sunday School. I literally threw all the kids' outfits over the ledge down to the living room where they were, and told them to get dressed. Trevor and Addison were able to dress themselves while I hurried up and got myself ready.

When I came downstairs.... I nearly peed my pants. The outfit Trevor had on... well, wasn't completely his own. And it cracked me up!

And of course the terrible blogger mom in me... HAD to get pictures of it. Even if it was just to share with daddy... or our Turner Mountain fans!

If you can't tell, he's not sporting a horse jockey costume, he is wearing his 14 month old brother's khaki pants. And the funniest part of it all is that THEY SORT OF FIT (around his teeny little booty and waist)!!!!And now, sadly, he is scarred for life because I chased him around the house with the camera, laughing. He was embarrassed and told me "Mom, don't you tell ANYONE!" So.... shhhhhh!

Mums the word, okay?!
