For the first entry of Turner Mountain West, I'll say this:
Nick returned home this Thursday from a 2 month mini deployment to Yuma, Arizona where he went through, and graduated from WTI (Weapons & Tactics Instructor) School. For a quick and easy relatable comaprison, it's the TOP GUN for helicopter pilots. So he was very happy to be chosen for the training! It was a long and stressful road (for all of us), but we are ALL happy that it's over!!!!
Oh yes, and extremely proud too!
Nick is the 3rd from the right in the bottom row.
Those knealing are new WTI's and the men standing behind were the instructors.
*NOTE...THE PICTURE FLOPPED WHEN IT SCANNED SO IN THE ORIGINAL NICK IS THE THIRD FROM THE LEFT,
BUT APPARENTLY NOT HERE!!!! SORRY. I GUESS I DIDN'T LOOK AT THE PICTURE ON THE BLOG BEFORE I POSTED!
Nick flew in Thursday afternoon and since the squadron worked last Sunday, they all had Friday off, so Nick was blessed with not having to go right back to work. He got up early and made McKenzie breakfast before school, and then he and Trevor ran to get me some long needed mulch for the flower garden we did by the garage right before he left. I had intended to go get the mulch myself, but with 3 little ones at home, that project was put on the back burner....the way far back burner! And of course Trevor was glad to be his little helper!
Then it was yard work time, which I'm sure my neighbor was happy about. He is very particular about his yard, so having OUR yard go all 2 months without one single mow probably bothered him a lot...sorry! Luckily, just as Nick finished trimming and cutting down some overgrown coconut tree leaves, the rain started....and didn't stop the rest of the day. Good thing we did the yard work in the morning. We? oops, i mean Nick. And I'd like to add it was all his idea to get working, I would have been just fine with him hanging out and relaxing for a day or two...but if you know much about Nick, he can't sit still for very long at all.
McKenzie and Nick will be going on a school fieldtrip to the Big Island of Hawaii the middle of next month. She will be finishing up the fourth grade soon after. Oh my gosh, that kills me to say that! Next up...(gulp!) 5th grade!
Trevor is signed up for pre-school starting in July (another gulp!) and he will go Monday-Friday but just in the mornings. Nick was afraid that would be too much for him. I think he'll do just fine...Nick however is having separation anxiety issues, and wants to know if maybe it's too soon. TRUST ME....it's not too soon!
Addison is now 4 1/2 months old! Where has the time gone! She just found her feet and loves gnawing on her fingers. I think teeth are in her near future the way she is chewing on things. She is giggling more often and smiles all the time! Now, if I can just get her to be more independant and play on the floor for longer than 5 minutes so that the house can get some one on one time. But hey, she's only this little once, right? We have a Ugly Angel playgroup every other week with the other babies in the squadron. So far, Addison hasn't been much of the social butterfly, and it goes back to the not letting mommy put her down 'phase' (i hope) that she is going through.
As for me, I am actually going to get to go to work tomorrow night at the care center. I'm looking forward to getting out of the house for a few hours. My baking is pretty steady and that is just how I like it. And I will do my best to update this often with pictures and upcoming attractions from Turner Mountain West! And I promise the entries won't ALL be this long. I just had to bring you all up to speed!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Aloha from Turner Mountain West!
