Coloring Eggs with the Squadron

The squadron's big get together this month was an Easter Egg Coloring Day. The kids all played in my friends' backyard and we set up dying stations while the adults visited and snacked.

McKenzie stayed for a while and played and ate, then decided to walk home (we just live a few blocks away) and head to the beach with Meridith. She doesn't really have any kids there her age to play with...
It rained all day yesterday, so with the sun being out, I guess I don't blame her.

Trevor set up a mock barber shop and was hollering out "Get your Haircut! Haircuts here!" It was hysterical! Once the kids were done with their cuts, he would get a toy out of his John Deere pail and give them their treat.

Then it was time to dye eggs. Our "FROman" (Family Readiness Officer) assisted...

Trevor was very patient while waiting for his egg to turn color...

Trevor and Helen (his gal pal) waiting on their eggs...

Someone made awesome cupcakes that were mostly frosting....so I took those to go! Can you blame me?

Here Comes Peter Cottontail...

The kids and I went to the mall first thing this morning to see the Easter Bunny. We were first in line... good thing because once the bunny got there, the line was LONG! So, as you can see by the picture, my kids were thilled to be there. And of course, set a stellar example for all the kids waiting in line...

McKenzie, at the mature age of 11 was LESS than thrilled to be sitting next to the Easter Bunny.

Trevor, 4, was a little nervous about sitting so close to him and therefore, would NOT smile...

And poor Addison, was screaming bloody murder and wanted OFF the Easter Bunny's lap...RIGHT NOW! Not even my cell phone (also in the picture) would make her happy. So the lady took a couple pictures, and believe it or not, this was the better of the two!
Happy Easter!!!!

I am WHOLE again!

My computer just arrived at my doorstep!

It's working like a champ and in my arms again! Obsessed....I know. It's my lifeline to the outside world! Yay! Now I can catch up on some blog posts with some pics and videos I have taken over this LONG PAINFUL week without my 'other half'!

This morning the kids and I headed to the mall to pay a visit to the Easter Bunny...how did it go? Stay tuned...the picture explains it all!

He Made It

Nick has made it safely to Afghanistan. His new email is nicholas.a.turner@afghan.usmc.mil His mailing address has NOT changed, and all packages that have been mailed recently are being forwarded to their new location. So no worries!

He will be sleeping and working in tents, and the internet abilities are not that reliable, so if you don't hear back from him right away, just be patient.

Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers as his deployment takes this new direction!

Spring Break is Officially Over!!!

*I AM WITHOUT MY LAPTOP FOR A WEEK OR SO WHILE IT IS GETTING REPAIRED, SO I AM USING MERIDITH'S IN THE MEANTIME. SORRY ABOUT THE LACK OF BLOG POSTS. POSTING PICS IS A LITTLE TRICKIER.

The kids went back to school today! Yay! The weather wasn't exactly as cooperative as I would have liked these past 2 weeks, so we didn't go to the beach as much. We did go to the water park with a few others and had a great time! The Trammell family joined us as well as Julie Svatek. We picnic'd out in the parking lot at lunch time since you can't bring in any outside food or drinks (and the food they offer is outrageously expensive and greasy). Then we headed back in to play the rest of the afternoon.

Addison loved just walking around the kiddie pool. She would chase after floating leaves.

The kids got warn out near closing time, so while we waited for McKenzie and her friend Katelyn to come back, they all warmed up and took a rest on the lounge chairs with Meridith.

The kids played outside in the backyard between rain showers. Trevor rigged up a new ride for Addison so he can push her around the lanai. She loves it. (It's my laundry sorter)

Addison also figured out how to get on the battery operated 4 wheeler of Trevor's.....and yes, she can even push the pedal and cruise down the yard...by herself! I have video that I will post soon.

Saturday morning, my friend Lesley and her sister ran the Ford Island 10K. So we got to play with her 7 month old Daniel for a few hours! It was a good test run for Addison, having a 'baby' around who was smaller than her. She did surprisingly well. The first few minutes when I held him, she looked at me with a grimace and was not happy, but as soon as I put him down, she sat right next to him. She brought him toys, and quickly put his binky back in his mouth when it fell out.

He was such a good baby, and we hope he comes over to play again soon!

Updates on Nick coming soon. Not much to report right now. Stay tuned!

Purple People Eater

Addison went for another checkup Monday. We are struggling to get rid of some thrush in her mouth. The Nystatin solution just isn't getting rid of it completely. So, we changed medication. The doctor recommended using a solution called Gentian Violet. So we applied our first application when we got home, and WOW, what a shocker! It was definitely violet! We just have to be very careful because it will stain anything it touches. I'm actually a little worried she'll have a permanent purple mouth, but after several hours, it does wear off. Thank goodness!
But for now, she is my Purple People Eater:

McKenzie decided to cut her hair with a little convincing from Meridith. She didn't go as short as I wanted her to, but she did take off several inches, and she loves it, so I guess that's all that matters!

Photo Shoot by McKenzie

McKenzie set up a photo shoot in Trevor's room yesterday. She hung a white blanket from his bunk bed and requested to have the dressup box.....
I was not allowed in the room during the picture taking. I only saw the evidence on the proofs afterwards. It looks like they both had too much fun! Especially McKenzie!
