Cupcakes...

...breakfast of Champions.
*They can't be any worse than toaster strudels can they? And just for the record, she had the first bite in before I even knew she snuck one!

Note to self: Find higher ground for cupcakes.

9 Month Checkup

We just returned from Tyler's 9 month checkup! Here are his stats:

Weight: 21.3 pounds (75%)
Height: (didn't see how tall) BUT... 50%

So we have a short and stout little fella.... who ALSO has allergies. The doctor confirmed my concern about his eyes, sniffles and cough.
He's got the allergy "shiners" as she called them. Dark circles under his eyes that almost look like faded black eyes. Addison has them as well.

The poor guy also had to get 5 holes poked in him. (Immunizations) He screamed and screamed until the second I picked him up, and then all was right in the world again.

Afterward it was off to Target to get some Children's Zyrtec. Oy! I've got quite a collection of allergy meds and nose sprays between the two of them now! Poor babies!

My Little Jumping Bean

After nearly breaking his exersaucer due to excessive jumping, I bought Tyler a Johnny Jump Up. It arrived in the mail the other day and he LOVES IT! It came with a music mat that plays different sounds depending on where his feet land.

This video just doesn't show the extent of his massive jumping skills, but I hope to catch him leaping and bounding on video soon!

Moving Along...

Whose feet are those?
Tyler's! He has mastered the scootchin'. And now he is on to climbing over and onto things...
I'll try to get some video up soon. He's so funny!

Swinging with Grandma

Today was Grandma & Grandpa Turner's last day with us! It was a little breezy and chilly, but the sun tried to peek out and there hasn't been any rain.... yet. So, Addison and Grandma spent some time out back swinging and learning colors.
We think her favorite color is BLUE... because that is what she says for nearly everything. The kids really enjoyed having them stay with us for a few days! I think they love the extra attention they get! We can't wait to see them again in July for a big family wedding!!!!

Marine Corps Museum & Ugly Angel Memorial

Today Nick and his parents chanced the possible rain showers and headed out to the base to see the Ugly Angel Memorial.

Then it was on to the Marine Corps Museum
After touring the museum, they sat back and relaxed, and ate some fabulous food at the Tun Tavern, a great restaurant inside the museum.

Fun with Grandma & Grandpa Turner

Yesterday while Mommy was fixing supper, Grandma helped out by feeding Tyler. Well, she tried. With all the excitement going on, Tyler didn't take an afternoon nap... so he was beyond tired. And was cranky and a bit uncooperative.
LOOK at that face!!!
I don't think he got much in his mouth.
Meanwhile, Nick and the kids were trying out the new (to us) 3 in 1 game table.
Pool, Air Hockey & Ping Pong.
McKenzie showed Dad how it was done.
Then later, Grandpa and Trevor played. Grandpa had Trevor laughing so hard he could hardly stand up.
This morning, we all dressed up and went to church.
We had rain last night, but today at noon, the sun came out for a couple hours and later on now, the clouds are rolling back in again for some thunder boomers!

Fence Climber

What happens when you tell Trevor that it's too late to go back out to play with the neighbors after supper?
He goes out anyways, climbs the fence, and talks to them until THEY go in for supper. No Fear.

Tyler's Laugh

Oh the things we do and the sounds we make just to hear our children laugh...

Lake Lunga

Nick and I took the kids (+1) to Lake Lunga on the base this morning. We loaded up the van with our fishing gear, chairs, cooler, snacks, kids, and more kids, and headed out. It was a little chilly being only 60 degrees or so, but the forecast called for sun.

After a quick drive, we arrived, found our spot, and started unloading...
But what's a nice relaxing day of fishing without starting it off with a flat tire.... thanks to an old rusty bolt, only to find out your spare is in worse shape than your almost flat tire! While Dad changed the tire, Trevor scoped out the area...
And Tyler tried to eat all the leaves...
Finally, tire changed, on to fishing...
Addison tried out her new Barbie fishing pole,
Which you can see she didn't take much interest in...
McKenzie was baited and had her pole in the water before anyone else I think...
But then Addison was back and decided it was fun just to tromp up and down the dock singing Pippi Longstocking songs.
The wind shifted, so Dad and Trevor headed to a different spot to try their luck there.
Some geese swam up to the shore, but when Trevor tried to follow them with bread crumbs (yes, I came prepared) they just kept wandering further away from us.

So we fished some more...
It was a pretty good morning. I think next time Nick will probably not want to take the whole fam damily! It was a lot of work just for a couple hours of fishing. But it was fun to check out the lake. (Minus the flat tire incident!)

Oh! Wondering if we caught any fish? Well, after battling the nibbles and losing a few minnows, Nick brought one to shore, only to lose it just as he lifts it up to the grass. But we all saw it, so no big fish tales for him! Unfortunately that was our only catch of the day!

Busted...

Look who got caught peeking to see if I've noticed... (boy was she surprised when I was standing by with the camera just waiting for her next peek!)
Like I wouldn't notice her sneaking chips from her plate and going to sit in Daddy's chair, when I SPECIFICALLY told her more than once that she had to sit at the table to eat.

Pictures!

Can I just say that VIRGINIA's got it going ON! Thank goodness they don't do the crazy splatter paint background! Here are Trevor's spring pictures that I will gladly replace his fall one with!

I told him he looked SO CUTE! and he quickly corrected me and said: "No, Mom, you have to say I look handsome, because I'm a boy!"

Oops, sorry! Doesn't he look SO HANDSOME!!!!

This week was "K" week and he came home today looking like this:
Mr. Krispy Kreme Doughnut

Where are you?

So what was supposed to be a video of Tyler playing peek-a-boo, is more like Addison sabotaging our peek-a-boo party and stealing the spotlight.

Enjoy!

"Where are you mommy?"
Don't you love her bunny rabbit eye wear?

Flowers & Vegetables

Trevor and Addison helped me plant flowers in my stacking flower pot this morning.
Here are some new flowering bushes blooming ALL OVER...
And all the pink and purple and yellow tulips in the backyard...
And... my first raised garden bed...
You can see that I have cucumbers growing in the 2nd one, and the rest of the space will be for tomato plants once they are big enough to transplant from my peet pots. With the exception of the peppers, I've started all these from seeds! I researched quite a bit online about where I should plant certain things, so I did the best I could....I'll post pictures of its progress. Keep your fingers crossed.... so far so good!

Almost there...

Tyler has been practicing his take off.... now if we can just get our arms and legs coordinated enough to put some miles behind him!!!

Another trip to the doctor to follow up on Addison's allergies.... Another addition to the medicine list, and we'll see how that works, otherwise, it's off to the ENT!

*Any tips on how to make Addison cooperate at the doctor's office so I don't have to weigh us together? Or so that she won't go from 0-60 in the freak out department when the doctors want to do assessments?
**Her doctor suggested getting her a doctor kit and letting her play doctor so she gets more comfortable with the 'tools' and how they work.

Flowers & A Garden

The tulips in my flower beds are popping up all over the place and in full bloom! They are SO pretty! I have tulips of all colors!
Yesterday Nick flew late and didn't have to go in til late afternoon, so we spent the morning mowing, trimming, and getting a vegetable garden started. But Trevor just wanted to look for critters in the giant flower pots left by the owners...
Each time he found something, he had me run and get the camera to take a picture.
Then Addison helped in the search...

(and Angie, if you are reading this, those ARE NOT raised garden beds. They just sort of look like raised garden beds. I think they were here when we moved in actually!)
THIS is a plotted out garden that was already here.... so we dumped in the leftover dirt and have that for more garden space. It just doesn't get quite as much sun as the others.
This morning, Day 2 of spring break, McKenzie went fishing with the neighbors on base. She was up before the sun at 5am, and back by 11am. But we won't be eating any fish for lunch.... it was an unsuccessful trip. Just a few nibbles and one little bass. Nick has been dying to take the kids out sometime. There are lots of lakes and places to fish around here. He just needs the time.

Tyler is on a 'sleeping through the night' streak! FINALLY! However, if Addison isn't up crying in the night, it's Trevor, with a bad dream. So I have yet to benefit from Tyler's huge accomplishment. But I'm still so proud of him!

Happy Easter

Happy Easter!!!

Our morning started off with a very happy group of kids! We had baskets from the Easter Bunny, and baskets from Grandma & Grandpa "Bob". As you can see, the baskets from the grandparents was a huge hit!

Addison was thrilled with her Peeps.
And her new bunny head eyewear...
Tyler was just happy getting his morning bottle.... what's up.
Good morning McKenzie!

I GOT A ZHU ZHU PET!!!!
And also some very stylish bunny head eyewear!
We got ready and headed to church, went out to eat, and then went back home for some photo ops.

The Turner Family in our backyard.
Then Tyler laid down for a much needed Easter nap... and the older kids got to go on their egg hunt!
I'm not sure but I think she found one...
al-most....
Then we hooked up Addison's new 'Water-piller"
Look who showed up on Easter morning?!
We missed all our family on this special day! We hope you all had a great day with great food! (Thanks for the pics Philip!)
