Lake Lunga

Nick and I took the kids (+1) to Lake Lunga on the base this morning. We loaded up the van with our fishing gear, chairs, cooler, snacks, kids, and more kids, and headed out. It was a little chilly being only 60 degrees or so, but the forecast called for sun.

After a quick drive, we arrived, found our spot, and started unloading...
But what's a nice relaxing day of fishing without starting it off with a flat tire.... thanks to an old rusty bolt, only to find out your spare is in worse shape than your almost flat tire! While Dad changed the tire, Trevor scoped out the area...
And Tyler tried to eat all the leaves...
Finally, tire changed, on to fishing...
Addison tried out her new Barbie fishing pole,
Which you can see she didn't take much interest in...
McKenzie was baited and had her pole in the water before anyone else I think...
But then Addison was back and decided it was fun just to tromp up and down the dock singing Pippi Longstocking songs.
The wind shifted, so Dad and Trevor headed to a different spot to try their luck there.
Some geese swam up to the shore, but when Trevor tried to follow them with bread crumbs (yes, I came prepared) they just kept wandering further away from us.

So we fished some more...
It was a pretty good morning. I think next time Nick will probably not want to take the whole fam damily! It was a lot of work just for a couple hours of fishing. But it was fun to check out the lake. (Minus the flat tire incident!)

Oh! Wondering if we caught any fish? Well, after battling the nibbles and losing a few minnows, Nick brought one to shore, only to lose it just as he lifts it up to the grass. But we all saw it, so no big fish tales for him! Unfortunately that was our only catch of the day!

That's really pretty! And neat that it's on base.

That is a nice lake on base! About 2/3 of our base is nature with ponds and whatnot. Bummer about the flat tire.
