And She's Off...

We just dropped McKenzie off at Bellows AFS in Waimanalo for a week of Operation Purple Camp. It's a camp for kids whose parents are deployed. I can't even begin to list all the fun things she will be doing all week. They will be doing a lot of beach/water activities as well as traveling around the island to see and do some really neat things!

Check in was at 3, and we had to stand in line for nearly 45 minutes to get her all signed in. She was assigned a group color BLACK and a tent number. I didn't realize they would actually be sleeping in tents, but she had a brand new sleeping bag and nick's military issued sleeping mat to lay on, so I hope that's comfortable enough.

After getting her name tag and dropping her bags off under the black tent, she applied a final layer of sunscreen and headed over to the other campers who were playing games until everyone was signed in!

Our goodbyes were brief. I figured I'd be the emotional one, being all pregnant and hormonal, but I think McKenzie was closer to tears than I was, so I just gave her a big hug, told her to have fun, and we'd see her in a few days! And then she was swept away by super nice camp councelors who told her they'd be begging them to go to sleep at night because they'd be keeping them so busy with fun games and activities!

I hope she has a great week! I'll sure miss her around the house! She has been SUCH a HUGE help with her siblings..... but she deserves a great week of fun!!!!
I tried to snap a pic of all the tents as we drove away...
So we'll be back to this place friday afternoon to pick her up!

Don't worry, Mom... she'll be SO busy meeting all those girls, doing all that new stuff and seeing so many fabulous places, all she'll think is "WOW, am I having fun or WHAT?!!" We can't wait to hear how much fun she had!
